Background
Gobindobhog Rice is a short-grained, aromatic, and sticky variety of rice traditionally cultivated in West Bengal, India. The name “Gobindobhog” comes from its association with offerings to Lord Govinda (Krishna), as it was considered sacred and used in temple rituals. Unlike long-grain basmati, this rice is prized for its unique aroma, buttery flavor, and soft texture. It is grown primarily in the Burdwan, Hooghly, and Nadia districts, making it a treasured heirloom grain of Bengal.
